By now, you’ve gone to the Career Fair, made some great connections at the School of Business Career Conversations, had your resume critiqued at the Center for Career Development, and maybe attended an employer information session or two. What do you do with all of this valuable information to help get that dream job or valuable internship? Try using the below tips to target your dream job search using HuskyCareerLink (HCL):
- On-Campus Interviews- Employers come to campus just about every day to interview UConn students for great positions. When using the search function on HuskyCareerLink, try utilizing the advanced search function and filter by “All Interviews” to see if any on campus interview opportunities match your goals. They change every week so check back often!
- Resume Books- Under the documents tab on the HuskyCareerLink homepage, you will find the “Opt-in Resume Book” page. This page will show you dozens of books you can submit your resume to for employers to review. Employers often have a specific position in mind that they may have not even posted and are scouring HCL to find the perfect candidate. The resume books offer you a chance to be considered for these positions by grouping your resume with others looking to work in that field. Some examples include, but are not limited to: accounting, consulting, fine arts, and publishing. By including yourself in these industry and position specific books, you increase your chances of being found for that perfect career you’ve always wanted.
- Events- Also along the dark blue bar at the top of the home page, the events tab offers you a look at which employers are coming to the university to present information sessions on the positions they’re recruiting for, as well as upcoming Career Fairs and workshops hosted by the Center for Career Development. Utilizing these resources will help put a face to that amazing resume and make sure that you get noticed when it comes time to select candidates to interview. Keep up to date using the events page to make sure you’re always in the loop!
Using all of these great resources on HuskyCareerLink will help make that job search process just a little bit easier and hopefully a little more fun.
