The 2016 Student Art Exhibition @ Wilbur Cross

UPDATE: The Student Art Exhibition @ Wilbur Cross will be postponed till Wednesday, February 10th due to inclement weather. Please join us on Wednesday from 5-8PM in the Wilbur Cross Building, room 202.

The Center for Career Development is hosting the first ever Student Art Exhibition @ Wilbur Cross! This is a semester long art exhibition open to all UConn undergraduate and graduate students from all campuses, giving students the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents in one of the most visible and iconic buildings on campus.

Each semester the Center for Career Development office space will be transformed into a professional art gallery with artworks from undergraduates of all majors. Not only does this give students great exposure to the UConn community, but also to potential employers looking to hire artistically talented students.

To be considered for entry into the show, students had to fill out an online application with an image of the artwork, an updated resume, and an artist statement.  A jury consisting of Center for Career Development staff and representatives from the School of Fine Arts convened to select which pieces were to be featured in the exhibition, and out of 147 artworks, 52 were selected to be showcased.

An opening reception will be held Monday, February 8th from 5:00-8:00PM at the Center for Career Development in Wilbur Cross to kick off the semester long event. Faculty, staff, students, family and friends are welcome to attend. The Center for Career Development has also extended an invitation to employers looking to hire artistic students. This will be a great networking opportunity for both Fine Arts students and students looking to go into an artistic professional career.

If you are interested in participating in next semester’s exhibition look out for the Fall 2016 application starting April 1st!
