At the close of this past semester you may have seen some upcoming graduates wearing t-shirts that said “#Adulting” on them and thought to yourself, what is that? These t-shirts were part of the Center for Career Development’s Huskies Moving On Campaign which is an effort to determine where graduates are headed after receiving their degrees (employment, graduate school, still seeking, etc.). The information collected is referred to as “first-destination” data.
The collection of first-destination data is an important initiative being spear-headed by the Center for Career Development. The demand for evidence of student success and employment outcomes has never been greater in higher education.
So what does all of this have to do with you?
- Are you curious as to whether or not your degree is going to lead to a positive outcome?
- Have you or your parents asked what the return on your investment is going to be?
It doesn’t matter if you just graduated (congrats!) or if you just started at UConn. During your time here (and after) you’re going to receive surveys seeking either general information collected for all students/graduates or specific information sought by your individual program. The information collected goes directly to answering the questions listed above. Undoubtedly at some point you’re going to suffer from what we refer to as survey fatigue, it’s inevitable. So if we understand that then why do we ask you to participate in surveys? The answer is simple, we need the information. So the next time you receive a survey from the Center for Career Development we hope that you participate!
Graduates, if you haven’t yet taken the Huskies Moving On Survey please go to: http://tiny.cc/huskiesmovingon. Enter your first name, last name and UConn email address to take the survey.
