The Lazy Days of Summer – Get a Jump Start on Your Career Development

Nothing beats a summer day! Images of ice cream, vacations and beaches come to mind. However, it cannot be ignored that before we know it, leaves will be changing and campus will coming back to life as students return. While it would be easy to block out school, career and life decisions until September, take this quiet time to reflect on where you are in your own personal and career development. Where do you want to be? What is the gap between the desired and the reality of your career development? What do you want to achieve over this next academic year in order to take the next step? Do you need advice on how to choose a major? Do you have a major and need to figure out how to get involved? Maybe it is time for you to network and learn more about different careers. Since there are not any looming papers or tests on the horizon now should be the time to review your résumé or create a LinkedIn profile. If you are thinking about graduate schools, summer is a great time to research programs and study for the appropriate standardized test without the everyday pressures one faces when school is in session. Resources to help with career decision making are available at all times of the year 24/7 on the CCD website to assist you remotely with addressing these questions. Make the most of you final days of summer and get a jump start on your fall.

See you back on campus soon!
