Nursing Careers In the Military

Military nursing is a profession dedicated to the medical care of patients in the military. These nurses enjoy wonderful careers as officers with military rank, especially for those who want to travel or do something different. In this fast-paced, multi-faceted, and secure career, nurses have the opportunity to challenge themselves through demanding responsibilities such as treating soldiers, setting up triage in warzones, and helping patients in a global setting. There are many different branches of the military that have corps of nursing professionals including the Army, Air Force, Navy, and the Coast Guard.
In order to pursue a career in military nursing, get involved with events and activities relating to the Military! One way is to join the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). UConn offers an ARMY ROTC Program and an Air Force ROTC Program. These programs offer UConn students with a specific interest in careers in the military support through scholarships and a tailored military college education. Secondly, attending events at UConn (such as Career Fairs) allows students to meet military recruiters that can provide a detailed insight about careers in the military.
