National Make A Difference Day 2021: How To Get Involved

This coming Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, is National Make A Difference Day! What is the goal of this day? National Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service in the country. It is celebrated every year on the fourth Saturday in October and encourages people to participate in service-related activities and connect them with their surrounding communities. There are hundreds of service opportunities available to students and members of the community, and today is the day to join!

UConn Community Outreach is a great place to start if you are interested in volunteering for National Make A Difference Day. Not only do they offer year-round opportunities, but they also offer one-day commitment service days. On Saturday, Community Outreach is sponsoring several opportunities to volunteer in the community. Here are a few to check out, along with registration links for each:

  1. Garden Club of Windham (7 participants max)*
  1. Joshuas Trust (7 participants max)*
  1. GROW Windham Community Gardens (7 participants max)*
  1. Cornerstone Food Cupboard (2 participants max)*
  1. Channel 3 Kids Camp (7 participants max)*

*Note that due to current restrictions, there is a limit to the number of participants allowed at each event. Sign up as soon as possible to secure your spot!

At its core, National Make A Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Each of the above service days offers a unique way to connect with the community and give back in honor of this special day. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
