A Look at Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander Student Organizations

Student organizations are associations wherein students can connect with other students in their field of interest. These organizations have resources, scholarship/financial help, educational events, and outreach opportunities available to students. The Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander Affinity Community has multiple amazing student organizations for people to get involved with and take advantage of.

The first student organization we’ll talk about is the Indian Students Association (ISA). The association’s goal is to share knowledge of Indian culture. The organization puts on many cultural events and participates in various campus-wide showings. The association aims to be a shared space and bring together the Indian community on campus. Anyone interested in learning about Indian culture is welcome. You can email them at huskyisa@gmail.com or check out their Instagram here for more information about ISA.

The second organization we’ll cover is the Asian American Cultural Center (AsACC). The AsACC offers resources for the Asian American community on campus to increase teaching, service, and outreach efforts. Located on the fourth floor of the Student Union, the Center has helpful tools such as a mentoring program, scholarship help, and even a library highlighting Asian American authors and stories. The Center also has resources specifically for international students, including specially designed programs and a translation tool.

The final organization we’ll cover is the Pan Asian Council (PAC). PAC is comprised of student representatives from various Asian American student organizations. PAC works to promote the different student organizations and their events. They accomplish this through networking, encouraging community involvement, and supporting personal development through social and cultural activities and events. For more information about the Pan Asian Council, you can email them at PACasacc@gmail.com.
