5 Tips For Your Online Winter Internship

UNIVERSITAS 21 is a global group of twenty-one research-intensive universities. It provides a wide community for students to collaborate internationally and develop solutions to social problems. As a member of U21, UConn students can participate in a month-long free online winter internship program offered by U21. Students can take advantage of this valuable opportunity to increase their teamwork experience. The following tips will support you in participating in an online short-term internship.

1. Take the initiative

The participants need to make the most of every opportunity to talk with the organizers. The online model limits participants’ ability to communicate with the organization. Make it a point to attend each and every online meeting. In order to get the most out of the experience, you should review the project paperwork ahead of time and extract relevant information. Write a rough outline of the project once you receive the task from the organization.

2. Take on a leadership role

The team formed by students is equal, but it does not mean that there is no leader. Short-term projects necessitate a leader who can swiftly organize individuals and direct them to the appropriate location.

3. Maintain your concentration

Due to the project’s short duration, teammates must maintain a high degree of concentration. You need to keep up with updates on the project. Don’t forget to report your problems so that the team can solve them together

4. Keep track of the project

Completing a project in a short amount of time can be difficult. Your teammates are probably updating their progress, sharing information they’ve gathered, and expressing their opinions every day. Set up a tracker to help the team keep everyone’s progress transparent.

5. Participate in networking

The online internship program has a wide group of participants. Remember to stay in touch with them after the project completes. You can learn about various cultures and their expertise.

Generally speaking, winter internships are rare. This is due to the internship’s functional design. Internships are typically longer than three months to allow interns to move to professional roles while also learning more about their industry and position. Companies also need a longer period to observe the learning ability and work attitude of interns. If you want to enrich your work experience with a short winter break, you should make use of the resources available on campus. The Center for Career Development and professors within the major are good campus resources to acquire information about winter projects.
