Did you miss our recent demo on Quinncia, the AI-powered career readiness platform? No worries, we’ve got you covered!
Hosted by Mary Catherine Decoteau, Career Consultant at the UConn Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills, the session introduced participants to Quinncia’s tools designed to help students build confidence and polish up their career materials.
What Is Quinncia?
Quinncia is a user-friendly AI-powered platform that helps university students optimize their resumes, practice and receive feedback on interview skills, and strengthen their presence on LinkedIn. Through quick personalized feedback, Quinnica is helping students become better prepared for their work fields, launching them into the next phase of their careers!
It’s free for all UConn undergraduate and graduate students and is accessible 24/7, with unlimited attempts for resume reviews. Students can log in easily with their NetID and password through our website, career.uconn.edu, or by simply searching “Quinncia UConn” online.
Key Features of Quinncia
Resume Analysis
The platform takes on the role of an applicant tracking system (ATS), analyzing student resumes and allowing them to view their resumes from a new perspective and to see how they would perform in real-life hiring processes. Quinncia also recommends several strategies on how to pass through ATS.
- Upload a resume in DOCX or PDF format and receive a detailed analysis in less than 2 minutes
- Identify red and yellow flags; critical issues followed by some suggested improvements.
- Get personalized recommendations to strengthen formatting and content.
- Compare resume performance against other UConn users.
- Use the Skills Gap Detector to check for missing keywords in job descriptions.
Students can make edits to their resumes directly in the platform and re-upload as many times as they’d like, perfect for continuous improvement and tailoring!
Resume Style Guide and Creator Tool
No resume? No problem! UConn is one of two schools on Quinncia that offers resume templates through the Resume Style Guide and Creator Tool.
Students can:
- Choose from six templates: three general samples and three UConn-provided ones
- Build or download their resume: either download the template for offline use or create it directly within the platform
- Follow guided tips: learn best practices for formatting, structure, and content as they build their resume
Practice Interview Tool
Quinncia’s practice interview feature gives students the chance to simulate real interviews and receive automated, insightful feedback.
- Each session includes practice questions from Quinn (Quinncia’s AI Voice) that change based on the resume. Students can also select the industry they want to interview for, or they can even indicate specific job descriptions.
- The tool evaluates not just verbal answers, but also eye contact, rate of speech, filler words, and body language.
- Students can schedule an interview anytime and replay their recording for self-review.
LinkedIn Profile Analysis
For LinkedIn analysis, students can upload their LinkedIn profiles as PDFs (or use the Chrome/Firefox extension) to receive feedback on how to:
- Improve visibility in searches
- Strengthen their professional presentation
- Highlight key skills and relevant experiences
Unlike the resume feature, LinkedIn analyses are capped at 5 per year for students.
Questions from the Session
During the demo, participants raised some thoughtful questions — one asking how Quinncia’s AI evaluates body language and whether it accounts for differences in communication styles among neurodivergent students.
Mary Catherine noted that, while Quinncia does provide significant automatic insights, it is not intended to completely replace personalized coaching. Students are encouraged to look over their feedback with a career coach in order to apply the suggestions and ensure that the advice is appropriate for their specific needs and individual communication styles.
Quinncia is available to all undergraduate and graduate students at the university, so encourage your students to make the most of this platform! If you have any questions about Quinncia, contact Mary Catherine Decoteau mary_catherine.decoteau@uconn.edu.
