Hi, it’s nice to meet you! I’m Alex, and you’ve likely seen me around if you’re ever on the Stamford campus, as that’s where I’m currently based. In my role I do many different types of tasks for the Center for Career Development. While I assist students on a daily basis with their general and career-based questions, that’s not all that I do for the Center. I upkeep our various social media accounts, while I also assist in planning for our events and our upcoming Career Fairs. I love working with students and also critiquing student resumes and cover letters throughout the semester. I work on the Stamford campus in the main office with a fantastic group of coworkers, as well as some very talented student workers.
Bio
Hometown: Norwalk, CT | Burlington, CT | Canton, CT (I did a lot of moving as a teen)
Things I enjoy: At heart, I’m an animal lover, a book reader, and somebody who loves to bake and cook. In my spare time, I love to delve into new worlds by reading books, graphic novels, comics, and anything else that sparks my interest. I enjoy spending time with my pet cat while getting absorbed in different movies and television as well. I love music and experiencing new things, so I’m always happy to take reccomendations on anything from anybody.
Advice to students: I think it’s important to realize that you don’t have to make every decision all at once and that there are people who can help you. Take things slow and plan them out so they seem less overwhelming. You don’t have to decide your entire career path the minute you enter college, it’s important to think things through and let yourself try new things so you can do something that makes you happy and challenges you in a way that’s beneficial. Nothing is set in stone. You can change your major, and your job and things are only as permanent as you allow them to be.
Education
University of Connecticut, Stamford CT Bachelor of Arts, English with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Favorite Project: I honestly really loved writing very long and research papers on topics like science fiction and fantasy. I wrote a paper on the mothers in the movies Mama, Black Swan, and Coraline about the use of mother figures in fantasy and horror for my Mother’s and Monsters. It was some of the most fun I had writing a paper.
