How have you personally used and benefitted from the Center for Career Development?

The Career Center has helped me create and revise my resume and cover letters, and provided a lot of insight into building my brand as a emerging professional. From the times I had visited them before becoming an intern here, I have gained so much knowledge about career readiness.

What are your future career goals?

My future goals are to work with the Latinx community in some capacity. As a Political Science and LLAS double major, I’m interested in learning about how institutions of higher education can better support Latinx students to make these environments more inclusive. I am also very involved in and passionate about anti-violence work, and hope to bring those lessons with me throughout my career journey and apply those principles to any space I enter.

What are some extracurricular activities you are involved in?

I have been on the Central American Student Association E-Board for the past two years, first as the Secretary and now as the Event Coordinator, but throughout my time there the focus has always been fostering an inclusive environment for Central American students to come learn about our culture, traditions and to provide support to our members. I am also a Violence Against Women Prevention Program (VAWPP) Peer Facilitator through the Women’s Center. Our Facilitators go into First Year Experience courses and hold discussions about what consent looks like and how to prevent gender-based violence.

What would you say to a student who has never visited the Center for Career Development before?

It’s never too soon to stop by! Career development is an ongoing journey, so take us along on yours. There is more than meets to eye about our Center so stop by, ask questions about the resources we offer, and help us help you.
