As an intern at HAI Group, you will be provided a hands-on experience to learn and contribute to the Legal and Compliance team’s impact to the enterprise. Internship Program Mission:
To engage in the selection of undergraduate and graduate talent (in specific roles, advanced degrees) for an internship with HAI Group designed to support each student’s focus of study by evoking the utilization of acquired knowledge, theory, and skills for practical application at work.
Internship Overview:
As a Legal and Compliance Intern, you’ll research various legal and regulatory issues regarding a wide range of topics. Reporting to the manager of Legal and Compliance, you’ll utilize your skills and knowledge to assist with projects and provide support on both an enterprise-wide level and directly to the Legal and Compliance team. The Legal and Compliance Intern will have the opportunity to support contract review, identify and document standard operating procedures, review and report on claims coverage positions, and assess both third-party and cybersecurity related risks.
Along with other department and enterprise-wide projects, the Legal and Compliance Intern will provide assistance related to the organization and utilization of contractual data within the company’s repository.
The HAI Group Legal and Compliance department provides support on an organization-wide level to various departments throughout the company. Our goal is to achieve excellence using conceptual and critical thinking to serve the organization. We partner with departments to assist with complex legal and compliance issues to mitigate risks and ensure HAI Group business operations are compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
This is a full time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT. The program will run from June– August.
Major Responsibilities:
- Research legal and regulatory issues
- Support contract review
- Identify and document standard operating procedures and templates
- Analyze and organize company’s contractual data within the lifecycle management system
- Review and report on company’s historical claims coverage positions
- Legislative tracking
- Review and documentation of filing and regulatory requirements for various HAI Group companies.
Academic Background:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program or ABA-accredited law school
Knowledge/Skills:
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated to learn new skills
- Ability to research and report on legal and compliance regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Able to review, assess and organize contractual and regulatory information
- Ability to work in a professional environment, both independently and as part of a team
Experience:
Prior work experience not required but preferred. Knowledge of contract law or insurance is also helpful.
Talent and Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and take initiative
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
