Annual Career Everywhere Conference
The UConn Center for Career Development is cultivating a customized Career Everywhere experience focused on supervising and mentoring students for faculty, staff, alumni, and employers to connect and be inspired. We invite you to a day of learning and networking with subject matter experts providing instruction and guidance on leading practices in supervising student employees and mentoring the next generation of UConn graduates. Join your colleagues for a day of connection, reflection, and strategic integration of career development to invigorate your classrooms, work, research, advising, and mentoring spaces.
The conference will feature breakout sessions available in two tracks: Supervision and Mentorship. Attendees can choose to follow an entire track or mix and match sessions. The learning outcomes for each track are as follows:
Supervision Track
-Equip supervisors with advanced skills in providing effective feedback, creating comprehensive training and onboarding programs, and understanding their own supervisory styles to foster the growth of student employees.
-Train supervisors to recognize and adapt to the diverse learning styles of student employees, enhancing their ability to provide personalized guidance while simultaneously helping student employees build essential career competencies for future professional success.
-Prepare supervisors to understand and manage the dynamics of a multigenerational workforce, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
Mentorship Track
-Develop skills to assist mentees with academic planning and career exploration, and understand how to connect mentees with resources and opportunities that support their development.
-Promote a growth mindset in mentees and equip them with coping skills for academic and personal challenges, while fostering essential competencies such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills through effective mentorship.
-Provide personalized guidance and development plans that promote inclusion and diversity, tailored to the individual needs of each mentee.
