University Communication – Multimedia Intern

Application Details – Period, Process & Required Materials:

September – November for spring interns, February – March for fall interns

Eligible Class Standings & Minimum GPA: Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Student; 2.00 /4.00

Description of Internship Site: University Communications is dedicated to sharing the news of the University of Connecticut and the surrounding communities. Through proactive approaches to coordinated, multimedia communication, the University of Connecticut seeks to be the primary source of information and imagery pertaining to or affecting the institution. The university endeavors to directly engage stakeholders and targeted audiences in a professional and creative manner that accurately conveys, supports, and develops a quality brand image of a top institution fostering life transformative education, impactful research and innovation, and a diverse and inclusive community serving the people of Connecticut and the world.

Description of Internship Position:

The Multimedia Intern provides technical and creative skills in audio/video production and assists the Multimedia Producers in carrying out a wide range of video production activities. This includes pre-production, scheduling, shooting and editing video, and publishing / promoting videos on social media. Work responsibilities will include the following:

– The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate and be mentored by multimedia producers and serve as an assistant on video shoots

– The intern will work towards a more independent production role over the course of the semester, culminating in several finished videos toward the end of the semester that are focused in areas of their interest.

– The intern will learn from other communications professionals and have the opportunity to work with writers, editors and web designers.

– The intern will have the opportunity to learn new about new video production software and hardware outside of the department through online training resources that are available

– University Communications is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

 

Additional Important Details: Student interns can be from any major as long as they have an interest in multimedia communication. Women and minority applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
