University Communications – Social Media Intern

Application Details – Period, Process & Required Materials: August—December for fall interns; January—May for spring interns; Submit all required materials including Résumé, Cover Letter and Social Media Work Samples to Emily Zangari. (See below for contact information)
Eligible Class Standings & Minimum GPA: Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Student; 2.00 /4.00
Credit, Compensation & Hours: Please see guidelines for earning academic credit for your internship at https://career.uconn.edu/earn-credit-for-your-internship/; Unpaid; Credit required; 10—12 hours per week
Description of Internship Site: University Communications is dedicated to sharing the news of the University of Connecticut and the surrounding communities. University Communications promotes the news through video, social media, photography, news stories, and many other forms of media. University Communications serves as UConn’s marketing and public relations entity, responsible for telling the UConn story. The department works to promote the university as one of the nation’s premier public research universities and premier provider of health care in Greater Hartford

Description of Internship Position: The Social Media intern at the University Communications will work to help meet the goals of the department. Work responsibilities will include the following:

  • Create and share posts on social media platforms in coordination with various departments
  • Assist in creating graphics and visuals for social media posts
  • Capture real-time moments for social media in the form of videos and photos
  • Help in the ideation and execution of social campaigns
  • Gather and analyze digital and social analytic reports during, and at the conclusion of, campaigns
Additional Important Details: Student interns can be from any major as long as they have an interest in multimedia communication
