NATURE OF WORK:
This is a professional position, under the administrative direction and supervision of the Director of Health, which maintains surveillance of the state of health and the occurrence of disease in specialized population groups.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology and one year of experience in a local public health agency. Must already possess a Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) certification or obtain certification within one year of hire. Must maintain CBIC certification throughout employment tenure. Also, the following knowledge, abilities and skills as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Knowledge of the nature and control of communicable diseases; Knowledge of the most current concepts of public health practices; Knowledge of local, state and federal communicable disease reporting requirements; Ability to design, conducts and analyze epidemiological surveys; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional medical personnel, other department personnel, and public officials; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
