The Role
City & State New York, a platform of GovExec, is seeking an Event Assistant to join our team. We produce approximately 50-60 events per year, mostly based in New York. You will handle the operations, logistics, planning, and audience development for all of our in-person and virtual events.
Responsibilities
- Create Websites, and update post-event
- Create Eventbrite and Zoom pages, continuously monitor attendance, and update attendee list after events with details
- Work with team on all private dinners including creating invite list, sending out all invites, and handling all logistics for each dinner
- Collect Speaker Bios/Photos, and add them to Airtable & website
- Sponsorship Implementation, including adding logos to website, coordinating speakers, attendee lists to sponsors, attendee connections, etc.
- Order supplies & awards and coordinate messenger services to and from events
- Administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent required
- 2-5 years of related experience in event planning, community development, or educational programming
- Excellent customer service orientation with capability to build and foster relationships with diverse constituencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proficient writing.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, work productively under deadlines, and carry out multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to perform non-routine work with changing priorities and collaborating parties
- Ability to successfully represent the company to high-profile event stakeholders
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, and strong analytical and reasoning skills
- Must be able to work all events, including sometimes evenings, per event schedule.

The compensation range for this role is $50,000 to $60,000 per year.
