Our kids Computer Science education programs provide an educational and much needed enrichment program that schools can easily implement to compliment their after-school activities.
Our increasingly popular program imparts Basic Computer Science skills through making games on platforms such as Scratch and Code.org. Our instructors assist children to work on fun experiential projects that are age appropriate while allowing for creativity to soar.
Our programs provide 21st Century Skills that are much needed in the workforce of the future and which can lead to high paying jobs for the next generation. We love the work we do and we are looking for people who share a passion for this wonderful cause.
JOB POSITION DESCRIPTION
Learn to become a Coding and Robotics instructor where you will receive training on the job and practical experiences that you can later apply in your career. Our Instructors/Trainees gain valuable skills in planning lessons, presenting, thinking on your feet and the experience of leading/mentoring kids is directly applicable to jobs in many different industries from Computer Science to Education to Health and more. We welcome diverse interests as we believe there is something to be gained by all.
Learn to teach kids Robotics and/or Coding Programs at Elementary and Middle Schools using fun lessons that kids naturally engage with. Our training will provide you with theory, classroom management, workshop style application which will be applied in the classroom. Self paced training in the subject matter is supported with curricula that are easy to follow and implement with opportunities for enhancement based on goals set. Successful applicants will work by teaming up with experienced instructors to instruct children Coding and Robotics at various schools from Fall through Spring.
Please do not apply if you: have no previous experience in a camp setting/after school program or similar leading children or do not meet the requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for people who love working with kids and have a positive attitude and are highly motivated. We reimburse for all transportation needs such as taxis or gas to travel to a local school near your college. You must be punctual, willing to learn new skills and be personable with faculty and children alike. If you are motivated and trainable then we would love for you to apply now.
If you have a passion to be a great role model for kids then this is an ideal job for you. Must be neat and respect classrooms, equipment and teammates. Must be a good and prompt communicator and have a good command of language both orally and written.
SKILLS: Technical: No computer coding skills are needed but you must demonstrate an aptitude and a willingness to learn simple coding lessons to teach back to the kids. Typically we start instructors with lessons in scratch and/or code.org. Some may want to teach robotics so you can lead with Lego Mindstorms and/or Ozobots. Those possessing Coding skills may go on to become mentors of other team members and/or teach with Python using trinket.io or similar interface that makes it easy for young learners.
Any of the following skills are a plus: Teaching After School Programs, Being a Camp Counselor, Volunteering in Schools, Tutoring Math, Teaching Kids, Coding Games, Robotics with Mindstorms, Ozobots or other robots, Maker Space Programs, 3D Modeling, Drawing, Design, Art or similar experience.
EDUCATION
Working (or having attained) toward a Bachelor degree or higher level Education.
HOURS
If you are available any afternoon during the week; M-F from 2PM to 5PM, and/or 11AM-3PM on Fridays. Be available at least 1 day per week at those hours starting Sept 6, 2025
OTHER
To be considered for employment we perform a full background check that includes Criminal, Sex Offender, DCF, and other as required by CT or NY Dept of Education.
