The Production Coordinator, as member of the Supply Chain team, helps to manage and optimize strategic sourcing of raw materials and packaging, the production schedule and toll manufacturing operations and logistics. The Production Coordinator also plays a key role in manufacturing process design, capacity planning, the specification of equipment and inventory management. The position is in Westport, CT and reports to the Supply Chain Manager with a dotted line to EVP/CTO.
§ Assists in planning and executing the active sourcing of raw materials and packaging from global suppliers to meet production schedules while minimizing working capital.
Initiates RFQs and assists in the negotiation of pricing and terms. Proposes supply contract negotiation strategies.
§ Helps to manage and continuously improve vendor and toll manufacturer relationships and compliance to drive value for the business.
§ Assists in the active management of production/shipping schedules and monitors open purchase orders for orders to ensure on-time deliveries.
§ Identifies and proposes cost-savings and cost-reduction opportunities and efficiency optimization and quality improvement opportunities throughout the supply chain. Helps to coordinate, monitor and report savings tracking.
§ Proactively identifies and reports product, material availability and other supply chain matters.
§ Coordinates inventory planning and replenishment of raw materials and components in conjunction with the Supply Chain team.
§ Regularly visits toll manufacturers and warehouses to drive best practices & to spearhead manufacturing process planning & optimization, identifying equipment and capacity needs and to manage scale-up projects in conjunction with R&D and Quality.
§ Assists in batch sheet creation, system entry and analysis.
§ Assists in new product system set up including the Bill of Materials.
§ Assists in the supplier and toll manufacturer performance management process and performs benchmark analyses.
§ Provides support as needed to Customer Service, Sales, and R&D.
§ Completes special projects and assignments as requested.
§ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or in an equivalent field with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
§ Strong strategic, analytical, planning and organizational skills
§ Strong interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills
§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office
