McCarter & English is seeking an IP intern for its Intellectual Property Practice Group to be based in the firm’s Hartford, Stamford or Boston office. We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly motivated IP Intern eager to gain hands-on, practical legal experience working for an innovative firm. The role will be full-time in office during the summer and hybrid 10-15 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters. The Intern position will extend for a calendar year.
Candidates must have completed the credit equivalent of two years in a program that when completed will earn the candidate a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline. Candidates enrolled in engineering post graduate programs will also be considered. Candidates should have superior academic credentials and demonstrate strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as the demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects independently, meet deadlines consistently, and be a strong team player as part of a client-oriented team.
The Intern will be an integral member of the McCarter IP team. Through project experience and active mentoring, the Intern will develop a deep understanding of global patent practice. The Intern will have opportunities to handle a variety of patent-related projects in all phases of global patent practice and associated with all aspects of global patent asset development. The Intern will assist and interact closely with talented attorneys and patent agents handling global patent application preparation, prosecution, and patent asset portfolio management.
The IP Intern candidate who receives an offer of employment will be processed through a background check which will be an individualized assessment based on the candidate’s specific record and the duties and requirements of the specific job. The salary for this position is $25/hr.
