The New York City Council is seeking a Director of Scheduling to work in the office of a Council Member representing the 6th Council District, encompassing most of the Upper West Side, Central Park to the Hudson River from the West 90’s to West 54th. The Director of Scheduling will maintain the Council Member’s fast-paced schedule. Solid attention to detail, flexibility, a positive, team-oriented attitude and a strong desire to help others is essential. The role also involves recruitment of interns and volunteers, some management of our vibrant internship program, and opportunities to take on independent projects outside of these core responsibilities.
SALARY RANGE:
$57,000 to $57,000
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule and plan for all meetings, hearings and events.
Update and maintain the Council Member and Office calendar, coordinate journal letters and citations.
Plan special events and represent the office at Community Board meetings, monthly forums and neighborhood events.
Recruit, interview, and orient interns to the office and help manage aspects of the educational internship program.
Excellent listening, communications and writing skills.
Highly organized and careful attention to detail.
An interest in local government, public service, and city issues.
Helping to maintain effective internal and external communications including with volunteer database.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, OR an equivalent amount of work experience is preferred.
Strong writing skills, including in rapid response situations.
Ability to handle multiple rotating projects within varied timelines.
Understanding of political sensitivity.
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
At least two years’ experience in a scheduling-related/ Office Manager position a plus.
Creative problem-solver.
Collaborative approach centered in equity.
