JOB DESCRIPTION –
Operations & Marketing Intern

Company: PortiGo Verity Inc.

Location: Stamford / Danbury CT (in-office with occasional remote flexibility)

Duration: Summer 2026 (8–10 weeks, starting late May / early June)

Hours: 25 hours/week

Compensation: $18/hour (academic credit also available if your school approves)

About PortiGo Verity

PortiGo Verity is a Connecticut-based startup transforming how international academic credentials are evaluated. We’re building AI-powered tools — including VeriScan, our document integrity engine — that make credential evaluation faster, more transparent, and more accessible for students and universities. Our founding team combine 12+ years inside the nation’s largest credential evaluator with 25 years building enterprise technology.

The Role

This isn’t a “get coffee and file papers” internship. You’ll work directly with the CEO on outreach, operations, and product testing during a critical growth phase. You’ll get hands-on experience with AI tools (including Claude, our AI assistant), startup operations, and B2B outreach to universities — real work with real impact on a real product.

You’ll also develop the kind of strategic thinking that AI can’t replace — learning to read institutional priorities, tailor messaging to different audiences, and figure out what makes a university say yes. These are skills that transfer to any career in business development, marketing, or partnerships.

What You’ll Do

Outreach & Marketing (roughly 40%)

•       Research university contacts and decision-makers for institutional outreach

•       Help draft and send customized outreach emails to admissions offices

•       Track email responses, schedule meetings, and manage the prospect pipeline

•       Assist with LinkedIn content, public profile setup, and brand presence

Operations & Product Support (roughly 40%)

•       Test VeriScan (our AI document verification tool) with sample credentials

•       Help prepare demo materials and presentation decks for university meetings

•       Organize prospect research, contact databases, and meeting prep dossiers

•       Support pilot program logistics with partner institutions

AI & Technology Exposure (embedded in everything we do)

•       Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) as daily productivity tools alongside the team

•       Learn how AI is applied to document verification and fraud detection

•       Contribute ideas for improving workflows and processes

What We’re Looking For

•       Current student at nearby university

•       Studying marketing, business, digital media, communications, or related field

•       Strong written communication — you’ll draft emails to university administrators

•       Organized and self-directed — startup pace means you’ll own your tasks

•       Comfortable with technology and eager to learn AI tools

•       Interest in education, international students, or startups is a plus

•       No prior startup experience required — curiosity and hustle matter more

Qualifications

Required

•       Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program (rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred)

•       Major or concentration in marketing, business, digital media, communications, data analytics, or related field

•       Strong written and verbal communication skills — you’ll correspond with university administrators and decision-makers

•       Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) or Microsoft Office equivalent

•       Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

•       Reliable transportation to Stamford, CT office and/or Danbury remote office

•       Reliable laptop

•       Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred (Not Required)

•       Experience with or interest in AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.)

•       Familiarity with LinkedIn, CRM tools, or email marketing platforms

•       Basic understanding of data analysis or spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, formulas, charts)

•       Interest in international education, higher ed admissions, or edtech

•       Prior internship or project experience in marketing, operations, or research (class projects count)

•       Personal experience as an international student or familiarity with the credential evaluation process

What You’ll Gain

•       Direct mentorship from the CEO of an AI startup

•       Hands-on experience with AI tools that are reshaping industries

•       Real portfolio work: outreach campaigns, product testing, market research

•       Exposure to B2B sales, business development, credential evaluation, and edtech

•       Insight into go-to-market strategy alongside hands-on AI fluency

•       Flexible hybrid schedule that works around your classes

•       Strong reference and potential to continue in fall semester
