SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, and all things New York sports.

The Digital Video Content team at SNY is responsible for the daily planning, production of SNY’s digital video and audio schedule, publishing all video content to SNY’s website, and managing SNY’s YouTube channel. The UConn Digital Video Intern will assist the Digital Video team with content gathering and production efforts supporting SNY’s coverage of UConn Women’s Basketball. Responsibilities include shooting video at media availabilities for surrounding games, practices, and events, as well as assisting with video editing and distribution across SNY’s digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain familiarity with SNY’s brand, New York sports culture, and the UConn Huskies basketball program.
  • Stay informed on digital and social media trends.
  • Utilize strong computer skills, including proficiency with Slack and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Apply basic knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and AVID.
  • Shoot video using provided equipment (i.e.,iPhone, audio equipment, etc.)
  • Exhibit excellent verbal, written, and creative communication skills.
  • Support the Digital Video team with additional tasks related to UConn Women’s Basketball coverage as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship, with a current academic standing of junior or above.
  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of SNY, New York sports, UConn Women’s basketball.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of project completion.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY.

Location & Time Commitment:

  • This role is based on the University of Connecticut campus, with a schedule determined by UConn’s Women’s Basketball game schedule and media availabilities. Opportunities may arise to assist at select road games and to work at SNY’s New York City headquarters on a limited basis.

Compensation:

  • The hourly rate for this student internship is $16.50.
