We are looking for an experienced AP Associate that can perform accounting functions to process complicated or non-repetitive accounting transactions, selecting among a substantial variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications, or tracing transactions through previous accounting actions to determine source of discrepancies. This person will also assist AP Supervisor in problem resolution and backup during times of absence or unavailability.
Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Utilizing a thorough knowledge of the AP system/processes, provide leadership and training guidance to all AP Associate employees.
- In a timely manner review, code, process and file accounts payable invoices.
- Prepare month-end journal entries for accounts payable.
- Prepare month-end accounts payable account reconciliations as appropriate.
- Process wire transfers and net-outs.
- Reporting of Form W9 and 1099 information.
- Research and resolve accounts payable invoice problems.
- Recommend improvements to current accounts payable procedures.
- Assist with Credit Card Management process.
- Work closely with the AP Manager to deepen your understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Receive guidance and mentorship from the manager to enhance your skills in processing complex transactions.
- Take advantage of opportunities for continuous learning and professional development to grow in your role.
- Other duties as required.
What you will have:
- 3-4 years accounting experience required, preferably including Accounts Payable or Banking experience.
- Post secondary education preferred
- Good computer literacy financial package software experience required.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel to intermediate level essential and MS Word helpful
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and work professionally with customers, vendors and employees
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership/training qualities.
