Roles and Responsibilities/Duties/Position Title
We are currently seeking interns for the spring semester. In the Office of Constituent Service and External Affairs, interns will be dealing directly with the constituency of Connecticut on behalf of Governor Lamont. What this entails is assisting constituents with issues they may be having with state agencies, listening to ideas/comments they may have about proposed legislation or issues facing the state and sorting through correspondence sent to the Office of the Governor.
Interns in this office will have to be up to date and knowledgeable about current events in the state and will periodically need to track bills as they move through the legislative process. In addition, a prime function of interns will be to collect data regarding the concerns and opinions of Connecticut’s constituency so that reports can be prepared for senior staff and Governor Lamont.
Learning Experiences Offered by Organization
Interns in the Office of Constituent Service and External Affairs will have the opportunity to engage in the following learning opportunities:
· Participate in meetings with the Director of Constituent Service and External Affairs and staff on a bi-monthly basis.
· Depending on the availability of the staff, interns may have the opportunity to network with other units in the Office of the Governor to enhance their internship experience.
· Attend the Governor’s press conferences, committee meetings and/or visit the Senate and House chambers during the legislative session.
· Schedule permitting, we also provide our interns with the opportunity interact with Governor Lamont before their internship ends.
