Position: PC+ Parent Child Plus Home Visitor
Location: Watertown Public Schools
Hourly Rate: $21.00
Shift Type: Part-time, 0.4fte (10-15 per week)
Report to: CFCE Grant Coordinator
Summary:
The PC+ home visitor goes into the family’s home weekly, exploring their child’s growth and development and helping parents explore how their relationship supports their child’s development.
Responsibilities:
- Completes a minimum of 16-hours of training prior to beginning home visits.
Attends and participates in weekly supervisory and training (minimum two-hour) staff
meetings.
Visits with assigned families, in their homes, on a twice weekly basis, demonstrating
reading, play, and verbal interaction behaviors with two or three-year-old children and
their parents or primary caretakers.
Completes required paperwork on a weekly basis, including preparing reports on each
visit and conducting regular child development and parent-child interaction assessments.
Keeps all family information confidential except as required by law.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience working with diverse families and knowledge of their needs is preferred
- Warmth and patience in dealing with toddlers and families.
- Enjoys working independently and carrying out work responsibilities without daily
supervision. - Non-judgmental attitude toward families and other staff.
- Is flexible in the home setting, can respond to a variety of circumstances as they occur, and shows good judgment in seeking support and guidance when needed.
- Interested in learning about the model and in being a life-long learner.
- Knows the community where they will work.
- Experience working with young children or parents and/or with community-based
organizations. - Deep knowledge and understanding of, and demonstrated ability to connect with the ethnic background of students and families served.
- Fluent in English and either Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, or Pushto and are familiar with the community they will serve.
Qualifications – Preferred:
- Experience in a home base, school or community setting working with children
- Candidates who speak another language bring added value to the district culture and diversity.
