Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Treasury Analyst of Mutual Fund Administration will be responsible for oversight functions related to custody-related items including managing and executing treasury functions for mutual funds. The Treasury Analyst will report to the Director, of mutual fund administration, working within the Fund Services Team to help drive a seamless oversight function over Virtus Mutual Funds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cash Flow Management:

  • Day-to-day oversight of Fund Cash balances
  • Redemption/Leverage Facility Oversight

Foreign Reclaim:

  • Regularly monitor Foreign Reclaim reports ensuring the bank is efficiently processing reclaims
  • Document any reasons for delays in processing including Reclaims filed in lieu of Relief at the source
  • Complete all documents within 5 business days of receipt from BNYM
  • Be well versed with documents for each country and be proactive in requesting documents to be completed if not already provided.
  • Work with Internal Tax/Accounting teams to make sure they are up to date on the collectability of reclaims and are maintaining accurate accrual figures are accurate
  • Create a quarterly summary for senior management review

Class Actions/Litigation:

  • Regularly work with Class Action providers to verify that they have all applicable trade data, that all claims are being processed timely, and that all claims are accurately and efficiently being distributed to the correct funds
  • Work with Sub Advisors and Accounting teams to satisfy all claim audits
  • Work with Accounting and Custody teams to ensure claim proceeds are processed timely and accurately by Virtus
  • Review all claims to ensure any NAV-impacting claims are booked immediately
  • Hold Bi-Weekly meetings with the class action provider to review and ensure there are no process gaps and review complex claims
  • Create a quarterly summary for senior management review
  • Continuously review claim payments for liquidated funds and make sure all funds are appropriately distributed or donated

Foreign Country Opening:

  • Work with the Sub-Advisors, Bank, and Management to open all foreign markets
  • Be well versed with current issues impacting various countries and be able to give input when market requests are submitted by Sub-Advisors
  • Ensure a seamless market opening process by making sure all forms are filled out accurately and all necessary documentation is provided timely
  • Be well versed with documents for each country and be proactive in requesting documents to be completed if not already provided.
  • Reviewing documents, getting legal approval and associated signatures
  • Get documents notarized and Apostilled if required and provide them to the custodian
  • Ensure all costs related are allocated to the right funds

Securities Lending/Fund Events/Other:

  • Day-to-day oversight of the Securities Lending program including:
  • Verifying collateral is accurately posted for each loan
  • Working with Sub-Advisors and Banks to add or remove funds from the program and maintain a running list of funds that are lending
  • Verifying funds are always within leverage limits
  • Day to day Running quarterly compliance tests
  • Assist in all the treasury activities for fund mergers, liquidations, and new funds
  • Assist during transition-related tasks during Fund acquisitions

Foreign Proxy Documents:

  • Work with the bank to verify that Proxies are in place for any foreign account that requires one
  • Ensure that Proxies are not expired
  • Ensure that all documents related to Proxies are received and completed in a timely manner
  • Make sure new Proxy’s and renewals are completed timely by both the Bank and Virtus

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an Accounting/Finance Major.
  • At least two to four years of experience.
  • Experience in the asset management industry preferred with knowledge of asset classes such as Equities, Bonds and/or derivatives.
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel knowledge (such as macros and pivot tables in particular) and the ability to use and modify Access tables are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to review raw data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in an environment of competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to build and stick to project deadlines.
