White Oak School provides effective research-based instruction for students with specific learning disabilities and related learning differences. Populations Served: Dyslexic, Language-based Learning Disability, Learning Differences, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Auditory and Visual Processing Disorders, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, AD/HD, Specific Learning Disability

Accreditation & Affiliations: Approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Membership in MAAPS, NDRF, LDA, IDA, CEC.

The following full-time positions are available at the White Oak School in Westfield, MA beginning in August of 2022:

Special Education Teachers – grades 5-12, all content areas, including Math, Science, History, ELA and Literacy Skills/Reading Instruction

Qualifications:

MA Licensure, Special Needs N-9 or Moderate Disabilities 5-12 preferred

Job Description:

*Provide direct instruction to students in middle or high school in the areas of decoding, writing, reading comprehension, auditory memory/processing, executive functioning, and social thinking/pragmatics skills, as well as small group instruction in high school math.

*Responsible for teaching in both small group classrooms and one-to-one language remediation tutorials

*Write IEP goals and objectives for Tutorials and content areas

*Participate in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings

*Implementation and progress monitoring of IEP goals

*Meet all requirements for the program, including IEP and Progress Report deadlines

*Create a positive educational environment for all students using a multi-tiered system of supports

*Use professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student’s team

*Remain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research, including engaging in regular professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learning.
