Interested in the outdoors and the environment? Like the Soil and Water Conservation Society – UConn Student Chapter on Facebook and join our club!
Our activities include trail clearings and cleanups in the UConn Forest, hiking trips, citizen science volunteering, educational outreach trips, maintenance of on-campus rain gardens and green roofs, and promoting conservation awareness.
Meetings consist of environmental films, hikes, DIY projects, or guest speakers with discussions on natural resource issues. No in depth knowledge of soil or water is expected, we just want to appreciate nature.
This is a student chapter of the national Soil and Water Conservation Society. Our mission is to promote and support conservation of water and soil resources, specifically in the university community. SWCS also seeks to educate and raise awareness on sustainability issues, and works towards improving conservation in the wider community.
