Career Planning Essentials

The Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills has partnered with Canva to bring you adaptable lessons, perfect for your career planning. With an interactive roadmap to support you as you grow and the ability to always revisit previous lessons, there’s content for each step in your career journey. Not only do these lessons help you brainstorm the different career paths you might be interested in, but we also offer customizable résumé and cover letter templates that you can edit within Canva and download for future applications. 

Lessons 
You can choose to complete one, a few, or all the lessons listed below.

Directions to Enroll in a Career Essentials Course:

  1. To get started, you’ll want to Create a Canva account with your preferred email or sign into your existing account.   
  2. On the left side of the screen, click on ‘templates’, then once the page refreshes, click ‘education’.  
  3. Next, click on the template for college students which will take you to a new page.   
  4. When you scroll down, you can check out the UConn career essentials lessons. There are a total of 6.  
  5. To add a lesson to your Canva projects, click on the lesson, then click the purple ‘use this lesson’ button.  
  6. If you choose to take a break from a lesson, you can return to the lesson by navigating to your projects on the left side of the screen.  
  7. Now you can choose ‘folders’ and you’ll be able to see the saved lesson that you began.
