International students may encounter questions regarding visa status during an interview. It is important to know how to respond to work eligibility and authorization questions. Also, interviews with U.S. companies are often conducted differently than interviews in other countries.

Big Interview
Do you have an interview scheduled in the near future?  Have you ever wanted to practice some questions before your interview?

The Center of Career Development through the platform Big Interview recently launched pre-recorded video interview questions tailored to prepare international students for interviews in the United States.

You will have the ability to record and review answers to questions in the privacy of your own home. Questions cover topics such as employment sponsorship/visas, language (English proficiency and/or multilingual ability), and how your time in the United States has shaped your experiences. Not all questions will be relevant to all international students.

To get started, log in to [UConn Big Interview | Big Interview], and follow the menu options:

  1. Practice
  2. Practice Interview
  3. Custom Set (right side of the screen)
  4. Start New Mock Interview: International Student Tab

Additionally, the Center offers a one-on-one simulated interview experience with specially trained staff members to receive personalized feedback on traditional interview questions. Visit [https://career.uconn.edu/resources/schedule-a-practice-interview/] to learn more.
