Introducing Interstride – a Career Platform for International Students

We are pleased to announce that UConn’s Center for Career Development and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) have partnered with Interstride to offer a mobile app and desktop channel for international students’ career preparation. The platform provides a range of resources and information for international students in the United States and students looking to work abroad.

Interstride enables students to search for internships and jobs from employers that sponsor visas and provides access to up-to-date visa and immigration-related information. Information on CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT Extension, LinkedIn resources, networking tips, and interview-related videos.

Features of Interstride

Jobs & Internship Portal

Interstride offers a job and internship aggregator to search opportunities for employees who have a history of filing H1-B petitions or who are cap-exempt when it comes to H1B in the U.S. or at companies and organizations outside of the U.S. Students can search top 500 H-1B jobs, and jobs worldwide.

Visa Insights & Immigration Support

The website and app provide resources for researching visa processes, including navigating work requirements. It also offers comprehensive country guides for opportunities beyond the U.S. These guides provide information on links to immigration information, and challenges facing cultural differences in the job search.

Resources

The portal offers webinars, podcasts, videos, and articles on general career advice and visa-related topics. The library has included topics such as “Job Search Strategy for International Students”, “How to legally work in the U.S. as an International Student”, and “How to Get a Job with No Work Experience as an International Student”.

Network/Mentorship

Interstride provides an opportunity to connect with international peers and alums who were once international students at UConn.
