Frequently Asked Questions

It is impossible to know exactly what questions an interviewer will ask, but the job or program description can provide helpful hints. For example, if the description says they are seeking someone with strong problem solving skills, it’s reasonable to expect an interview question about problem solving. If you get asked a question you do not know the answer to, be honest and share something related. It’s okay to not know all the answers; you haven’t started the role or program yet!

In general, responses to interview questions should be about 2 minutes long. They may be slightly longer or shorter depending on how complex the interview question is. It can be helpful to practice for interviews using a timer so you become familiar with how much information fits in about 2 minutes.

Being nervous for an interview is normal and hard to avoid. Rather than trying to eliminate any nerves you have about interviews, we suggest focusing on how you can be successful despite being nervous. Many students find practice helps them feel prepared.
