At DeFoe Corp. we found it best to rotate new hirers. Depending on time of application the candidate will start in the main office. The role will include helping with the estimating department. The candidate will become familiar with the plans, specifications, owner’s requirements, among other things. When the time is right the candidate will work as a field engineer onsite. This allows the candidate to put into action the tools learned in the office. A field engineer works onsite and helps with quantities, material ordering, labor cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, among other things.
At the time of interview, depending on availability the rotation might be the opposite, but the idea is to expose the employee to both sides of our business and find the best fit for them.
