Co-op / Internship Research Associate, Biochemistry & Biophysics ( 6 Months)
Location: Boston, MA
Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking passionate Co-op Research Associates to help us to eliminate disease causing proteins through targeted protein degradation–a novel and exciting way of drugging proteins that until recently were considered un-druggable. The candidates will gain hands-on experience within a particular area of interest in an early-stage drug discovery environment. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project, as well as expose you to other drug discovery projects and involve you in the process of solving complex biological questions. You will be joining a diverse, thoughtful, fun and collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork and putting people first!
If you have an interest in the following areas, we will give you hands on educational experience within a high paced drug discovery environment.
- Piloting a new small-scale protein production platform using in-vitro transcription/translation
- Learning about miniaturizing traditional protein purification using a plate-based approach
- Developing and optimizing biochemical & biophysical assays (TR-FRET, SPR) to evaluate ternary complex formation utilizing reagents produced from IVTT or plate-based protein purification
- Learning about the drug-discovery process and contributing to projects in both early and late discovery
- Presenting in team meetings and writing detailed experimental protocols and SOPs
Qualifications:
- Our preference is for a student currently in a Master’s degree program in Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Biophysics, or a life science. However, a motived undergraduate in their Sophomore or Junior year, currently enrolled in BS program with an exceptional academic record would be considered.
- Strong desire to learn the most advance approaches to drug discovery
- Individuals should have previous documented laboratory experience
- Experience in bacterial cell culture, chromatography using FPLC systems and biochemical assays (enzymatic assays, TR-FRET) preferred but not required
- Enjoys working in a collaborative, team-based environment
Interested Candidates may forward CV and Cover Letter letting us know your area of interest please forward to Careers-US@MonterosaTx.com
