POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Valley Blue Sox will offer two (2) Social Media & Marketing Internships. The internship lasts from the months of January to August, including the Valley Blue Sox’s pre-season, season and post-season. This position provides numerous opportunities for interns to acquire real-time, working experience in a professional organization modeled after minor league baseball. Preference will be given to graphic design or marketing/media related majors that have been involved in social media, graphic design and sports programs. A well-rounded understanding of the game of baseball is required. During the spring, this internship will be remote and self paced with a required minimum of 20 hours of work completed per week and will transition to in-person for the summer.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing updates on the Blue Sox Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts on game days and at player/mascot appearances in the community, including live tweeting each game
- Responsible for managing and tracking all social media accounts in real-time, keeping all content relevant, fluid and interactive. Must know how to engage with our audience through social media posts and interactions
- Create a consistent and uniform design for all social platforms
- Create and execute a social media plan with a goal of increasing engagement and interactions on all platforms
- Interview players & coaches, and possibly community members & sponsors
- Work with local media outlets to promote the team through various forms of advertisement
- Assist in any other duties as assigned by Blue Sox full-time staff
Requirements:
- Available to work a full schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed; Internship hours can be non-typical of a common “work-day”
- Energetic, “can-do” attitude and problem solving is a must
- Must have advanced knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- Must be able to turn around high-quality content quickly and with minimal oversight and supervision
- Strong written and oral communication skills are a must
- The ideal candidates would be required to have excellent attention to detail as well as experience using Adobe products, including Photoshop, Illustrator and video editing software. Useful knowledge of Canva is a plus
