POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Town Engineer, the intern performs civil engineering tasks to support Town engineering projects and economic development in Town.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develops and prepares engineering documents, drawings, and concepts using CAD.
- Assists in reviewing and interpreting engineering documents.
- Performs engineering analysis and technical research.
- Performs field work including surveying and construction inspection.
- Collects and interprets engineering data.
- Operates a computer using Microsoft Office and engineering software.
- May perform additional tasks and duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering and land surveying principles and practices.
- Ability to apply principles of construction to solve practical field problems.
- Ability to operate calculating, surveying, drafting and other engineering equipment.
- Ability to understand concise written and oral instructions and work effectively with staff, superiors and the general public.
- Familiarity with CAD engineering and survey-based applications.
Interns will be paid at $20.00/hour, with a requirement of 15 hours/week. The selected candidate will meet with his/her supervisor to create a flexible schedule that best fits the student’s needs.
