Formula SAE

UConn Formula SAE offers its members a real-world engineering and business management experience. Each component of the car is designed and assembled by students. The steps taken in the production of each system allows members to learn and improve in more ways than one. Each year, the team must assess the cost and performance for each component in order to meet financial limitations. Parts are fiscally accounted with industry practices to compete with other schools for manufacturing cost. UConn Formula SAE is a student run organization, and relies heavily on school aid and sponsorships. This allows members to learn how use cost effective engineering in their designs, much like a real-world engineer. Business management is also tested in competition. Being a part of the process of bringing a design from concept to competition provides skills and experience unique to Formula SAE.
