The McNair Scholars Program has 2 opportunities for students who are first-generation of high need households and/or self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group: McNair Fellows partake in the fall semester apprenticeship as 2nd or 3rd-year students, and McNair Scholars dive into a project with a faculty mentor for 3 – 5 semesters as well as during the summer months. All students learn how to evolve into an undergraduate researcher in a STEM discipline, about career trajectories, and students are equipped with all of the research, writing, presentation, and professional development tools necessary to be competitive candidates for an M.S. and Ph.D. degree as their next academic step.
