Earn Credit For Your Internship

UConn has over 70 undergraduate majors that offer course credit for students at all majors for an on or off-campus internship; additionally, the Center for Career Development offers a one-credit course and a zero-credit transcript notation option. Graduate Students may pursue credit options through their academic departments and/or the Graduate School.

Review the lists below and click on a major for more details. Undergraduates from all campuses may register for an internship course. Some departments allow for virtual experiences while others may not. Even if a major does not have an internship course, internship sites and options are indicated within the major’s information. Majors marked with an * offer credit to students outside the major.

  • Deadlines: Internship credit must be approved before the start of the semester/summer session for which you hope to earn credit.
  • Cost: Students are always responsible for any fees or charges associated with earning academic credit. If an undergraduate student elects to earn credit for an internship, they will be charged tuition based on the number of credits earned. Information on fees for summer internships can be found here: https://summersession.uconn.edu/dates-fees/
  • Note: Academic credit does not equal compensation. Only the University can determine if your internship opportunity is eligible for credit, not the employer.

Contact the Center for Career Development internship team at internships@uconn.edu if you have any questions or concerns about this process.
